1. Blogger Challenge!

   Here is a recent blogger challenge that we got, thought we would share it with you! 
   
   As most of you know, I had a baby back in the spring. I was blessed through my whole pregnancy for clear, blemish free skin! However, once I gave birth, and my hormones start changing, my skin decided to turn against me. Gone was my glowing skin, and now what replaced it was dull skin, with blemishes on my chin.

2. Acne and Essential Fatty Acids

   Skintactix prides itself on having a very informative website that hopefully allows each of you to gain some knowledge about your health, skin and nutrition. This blog is going to focus on acne and how essential fatty acids play into acne problems. 

   Let’s start by addressing what essential fatty acids are. They are required by the body and are actually very powerful anti-inflammatory agents.  The essential fatty acids you may be familiar with are linoleic acid, omega-6, flaxseed oil and safflower oil, just to name a few. 

   Many foods now contain less of the essential fatty acids because they are trying to reduce trans fat. Consumption of trans fat leads to breakdown and loss of essential fatty acids. Without essential fatty acids, such as linoleic acid, sebaceous glands produce sebum with oleic acid which is more irritating and drier. Linoleic oil is preferred as this type of oil is a normal component to sebum. With increased oleic acid, it promotes blockage in the follicle which leads to blackheads and whiteheads. Therefore, it is very important to not have a deficiency in lineolic acid or other essential fatty acids.

   Skintactix products can be beneficial as they linoleic acid, but proper nutrition is also necessary to control the speed of recovery and reduce the amount of whiteheads and blackheads that appear. For more information about essential fatty acids, visit our website!

3. Acne Side Effects

   There is an article that we recently came across that sparked our attention. We thought it was good enough information to pass on! Many people with acne fear people noticing and seeing their acne. 7. Cuban Black Bean Soup!

   Each month, Skintactix brings you a healthy recipe to try and improve your healthy eating habits which leads to healthier skin! This month’s healthy recipe is Cuban Black Bean Soup! We hope you enjoy! Below, you will find the ingredients, plus the link to the website!

   

   Ingredients

   • 1 1/3 cup(s) chopped onions
   • 1  tablespoon(s) minced garlic
   • 1   jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
   • 1  teaspoon(s) ground cumin
   • 1/2 teaspoon(s) each dried oregano and thyme
   • 1/4 teaspoon(s) pepper
   • 2   ham hocks (11/2 lb total)
   • 4  can(s) (about 15 oz each) black beans, rinsed
   • 2  can(s) (14 oz each) chicken broth
   • 1  tablespoon(s) fresh lemon juice
   •   Garnish: chopped hard-cooked egg

   Directions

   1. Mix onions, garlic, jalapeño pepper, cumin, oregano, thyme and pepper in a 4 1/2-qt or larger slow-cooker. Top with ham hocks and beans; add broth
   2. Cover and cook on low 7 to 9 hours until meat on ham hocks is tender
   3. Lift out ham hocks. When cool enough to handle, remove and discard skin and fat. Remove meat from bones, chop coarsely and return to soup. Stir in lemon juice. Garnish with egg.

   Happy New Year! We hope you all had a wonderful time ringing in the New Year and we hope 2012 will be a great year for you and your loved ones. We are going to start the year off with a blogger challenge! Here is a recent review that came in from our blogger challenge! Hope you enjoy!

   “I recently got the chance to review an Acne Kit for Dry Skin from Skintactix! I was so excited.  This was from their travel line of acne kits so everything was smaller and it was perfect for me to see how it worked, and since I’ve been on the go a lot it was easy to pack.  I chose the dry skin kit because I have much drier skin in the winter and sometimes I even get breakouts because my skin is so dry.  The instructions were so easy to you! Each bottle (4 to the set) was labeled with a number. On the back was a simple sentence instructing how to use the formula.  I followed steps 1-4 each night, and it’s been about  2 weeks now and I am acne free!  

   I had no harsh reactions and I was delighted that the products weren’t overly gritty or greasy.  The bottles were the perfect size for in my purse or my makeup bag! It worked out great.  I love that everything was so compact and all 4 steps to a great skincare routine were right there!
